Black Screen With Mouse Cursor In Windows 10
This is to the Microsoft tech..ARE YOU EVEN READING WHAT Alegaspar17 IS TYPING????? I am having the same problem with on of my computers. Black screen..no task bar..no log in screen...no changes to the system..it was working, now it is not working.
ON my system the only thing visible is a COMPLETELY BLACK screen with a cursor. Nothing works to make the screen or any other part of windows visible. Incidentally, on my system if I hit the space bar and type my PIN I can tell that windows logs in...still, all I can see is a black screen and a cursor. To further verify that my windows 10 actually logged in behind the black screen, I tapped the windows key and then clicked the cursor in the lower right corner where I estimated the power icon would be if I were to actually be able to see..I then hit the up arrow once and selected enter on the keyboard, the system rebooted; if I do the same thing after the reboot, but hit the up arrow twice, the system shuts down. Because this is exactly what would happen if I could see the screen and clicked on the power button, it was enough to tell me that behind that BLACK SCREEN and cursor, windows 10 continues to function..but with only a black screen and cursor and nothing else visible.
Unfortunately, I had not enabled the function to allow me to boot into safe-mode. I have tried numerous actions so far, including changing output ports (HDMI/DVI) on the video card and Win+P..but nothing has worked yet. Still just a black screen and cursor.
I blame myself for not creating a rescue boot disk..considering the years I spent as a computer technician and LAN administrator I should have been better prepared..but over the past year I had been really happy with Windows 10 and I guess I let me self trust Windows and get complacent.
Bottom line: Any suggestions to fix this problem?..to summarize, no recent changes to the system, (to include programs) nothing visible but a Black screen and cursor, Auto updates for windows are enabled, so it has the latest updates and build..Windows appears to be COMPLETELY functioning behind the black screen and cursor...none of the hot key shortcuts were successful in making any windows visible (no task manger, no command prompt, no windows bar, no display changes..ect)
